WP3 Test Generation and Refinement

Document focuses on defining and creating tools for test generation based on models and test refinement (updating, maintaining and improving tests).

Document discuss following subjects:

Architectures for test case and test harness generation. (Pattern driven test generation, offline and also online test generation form system models, online test generation form system model with precomputation).
Finite and infinite state space generation driven mechanisms for test case generation.
Pattern driven mechanisms for test case generation. (Mechanisms for "initial" test case generation, how to construct test cases based on models alone).
Generation of test harness. Iterative maintenance of test cases and test harnesses. (How to update test cases and test harnesses when models, testing requirements and testing interfaces evolve or change).
Human-computer interaction and usability issues. (How to take usability into account and how to provide smooth and intuitive human-computer interaction for the operator of the test case and test harness generation and maintenance tools).

WP3 Test Management

This document gives an overview of test management and test process control in regard to industrial testing needs for standalone systems and embedded devices. Important challenge addressed in this document is the introduction of a quality assurance strategy embedding the test management architectures for these type of systems and devices.

Document discuss these following subjects:
Different testing methodologies, motivating their usage in different scenarios.
How to handle necessary interaction between the tester and the SUT in automated test execution. (Solution implemented in TTworkbench tool by Testing Technologies is proposed for this issue).
Need for Quality Assurance Systems (QAS). (Presentation of the integration of the TPT (Time Partition Testing) test management by PikeTec into the HP Quality Center).
Management problems in a distributed test environment. (TTmex - highly standardized architecture based on TTCN-3, maintained by Testing Technologies).
Problems related with testing distributed embedded software. (set of requirements is presented for these test environments).

WP3 Test Quality

This document discuss two approaches for improvement of test models:
- Model based technique
- TestCode based technique

First part of document give an idea of implementation approaches to analyse quality for these two techniques, whereas the second part of the document describes how the tools available within D-Mint project can be applied for fulfilling the objectives within these two techniques.

Model based technique

Argument that lays behind the first method is that a significant number of the errors discovered during testing originate in the system specification phase.
Objective described in this document for Model based technique is to check the models for either consistency, correctness, completeness.

Test code based technique

As it suggest the name of the technique, it is based on test code. That means that code quality is not only issue of the software development but also it is an issue for the test phase.
Approach for dealing with this issue presented in the document is based on the TTCN-3 Programming language.

WP3 Test Integration

Document presents the integrated description of 14 tool chain components tools that are incorporated and presented by 9 D-Mint Partners.

Information about the tools is presented in two parts:

First part presents summarised review of all D-Mint tools and also statistics. Statistics are based on current development status and application area of tool (graphs and tables).

Second part presents brief description of all tools. Information that is available for each project/tool: organisation name, overview of the tool, tool status, tool application, integrable possibilities, available extensions, contact person.
