Work Package 3: Tools and tool chain

Description: This work package will develop a tool chain that supports the principles and methods explored in work package 2. The tool chain will be evaluated in the context of various industrial case studies in work package 1. The experience in applying the tool chain to the case studies will result in a revision of the tools.

Contributions to the tool chain will in particular address the following aspects:

  1. Test generation and test refinement:
    • Test generation algorithms such as state space search or pattern-based approach
    • Test selection based on model-based coverage or risk assessment
    • Generation of tests for complex embedded system
    • Refinement of tests along refinement of system models
  2. Test management and distributed test process control
    • Distributed test execution
    • Test control for real-time and hybrid systems
    • Work flow guidance for the testing process
    • Organisation of test artefacts such as system requirements, test plan and reports in distributed cooperative environments
    • Consistency checks on structures and semantics of requirements, tests, and design
  3. Test quality analysis
    • Design-model based system monitoring
    • Validation of test cases against use cases, design models, common correctness criteria
    • Traceability support
